{"id":707,"name":"Nazl\u0131 G\u00fcrlek","url":"http:\/\/www.nazligurlek.com","description":"Nazl\u0131 G\u00fcrlek is an artist, curator and art writer based between Istanbul and Palo Alto, California. She is the co-curator of the 4th International Mardin Biennial (4 May \u2013 4 June 2018) and the founder of UMA, an interdisciplinary platform for creative research and production rooted in the pagan traditions of Anatolia. Her performative art piece \u201cONE\u201d was staged in last September at Istanbul's Ko\u00e7 University Research Center for Anatolian Civilisations (ANAMED) in the context of ANAMED\u2019s exhibition \u201cThe Curious Case of \u00c7atalh\u00f6y\u00fck\u201d celebrating the 25th excavation season of \u00c7atalh\u00f6y\u00fck and as a parallel project to the 15th Istanbul Biennial. Most recently her artworks were included in \u201cFLOATING TACTICS AFTER A SUNKEN ISLAND\u201d group exhibition at Daire Sanat, Istanbul (2017). Previous curatorial positions include curator of \u201cCANAN: Behind Mount Qaf\u201d at Vehbi Ko\u00e7 Foundation\u2019s Arter - Space for Art (2017-18), curator of the collection at Borusan Contemporary (2014\u201315) and curator of programmes at Ma\u00e7ka Sanat Galerisi (2011\u201312), all in Istanbul. She is the author of a few publications including \u201cNature is Our Body,\u201d ArteEast Quarterly: The Global Platform for Middle East Arts (Spring 2016), \u201cSarkis and When Attitudes Become Form\u201d (SALT Istanbul, 2013) and \u0130nci Eviner monograph (Revolver, 2011). Her writings appear in international art magazines such as Frieze, Camera Austria, Art Asia Pacific, Flash Art International, The Exhibitionist.
