Her background is in political sciences, cultural studies, environmental science and governance with a PhD in Social Sciences from Erasmus University titled \u201cTransforming urban climate governance: capacities for transformative climate governance \u201d. Her research areas include: \r\n-\tCapacities for transformation governance in cities in the Global North and South\r\n-\tClimate and water governance at global, national and local levels\r\n-\tActors and actor roles in co-creation of long-term change processes\r\n-\tInter- and transdisciplinary transformation research and knowledge co-production\r\n \r\nKatharina has been involved in various research projects, including EU-funded projects such as IMPRESSIONS , MUSIC  and SUSTAIN  that applied transition management for supporting national, regional and local transformation processes towards sustainability and resilience.
