Kilia Llano

Kilia Llano is a multidisciplinary Dominican artist with more than fifteen years of experience in public art, muralism, and art education. Her practice integrates visual creation with a deep reflection on Caribbean identity, colonial legacies, the denial of Blackness, and the ancestral relationship between humanity and nature. Throughout her career, she has participated in over thirty public art projects across the Dominican Republic, the United States, Colombia, and Italy, addressing issues related to social justice, equity, and environmental awareness. She graduated with honors from Altos de Chavón and Parsons School of Design, and earned her MFA in Painting from the New York Academy of Art, where she received the Bonnie De-Witt Fund Award. Alongside her artistic work, Llano has dedicated more than twenty years to art education, fostering creativity, exploration, and free expression as tools for social transformation
