After receiving a PhD in Earth, Environment and Society at Portland State University, Laura moved to Helsinki (Finland) to work as a senior researcher at the Finnish Environment Institute.
The underlying goal of Laura’s research is to identify ways to enhance resilience of urban environments. By engaging directly with municipalities, practitioners, decision-makers and citizen she aims to co-design and co-create pathways to uptake and implement sustainable development goals as defined by the European Green Deal and Biodiversity Strategy to 2030. Laura is particularly interested in bridging knowledge gaps between science and practice to help streamline the implementation of Greening Plans and Nature-based Solutions into urban planning.
