Shibeal McCann – pronounced “Shib + Ale” – is an environmental science expert from Ireland. She holds a master’s degree in Environment and Society Studies with a specialisation in Sustainable Cities and Local Environmental Change at Radboud University, Nijmegen, as well as a bachelor’s in Environmental Science from Trinity College, Dublin. She has a tremendous interest in nature-based solutions and their profound ability to future-proof cities, dedicating her Bachelor’s thesis to “Urban Trees as Biofilters”, investigating trees’ effect on reducing urban air pollution. Her recent activities included an internship with The Connecting Nature project and a role as sustainability advisor to the Provost of Trinity College Dublin. Shibeal has always had a deeply-rooted love for nature, growing up on the south coast of Ireland surrounded by mountains and the sea. You will often find her out in nature, surfing, running and/or swimming. The concept of integrating nature into cities is something that truly excites her.
