María Francisca Tapia is a Senior Sustainability and Research Consultant at ABUD Mérnökiroda Kft, specialising in building engineering and NbS assessment. With international experience across Latin America and Europe, starting with studies in architecture and urban planning in Quito, Ecuador, her work bridges technical expertise with community needs through climate strategies and participatory approaches. She has delivered guest lectures and conference talks on NbS maintenance at European and South American universities, including ecology and engineering faculties. Her research examines how service design and early co-design can improve green infrastructure delivery, keeping projects ecologically sound, socially inclusive, and maintainable over time. She holds a Master’s degree in Building Engineering for Sustainability from Politecnico di Milano and a PhD in Architecture from the University of Pécs, Hungary.
