New York City

Yuliya Dzyuban’s work contributes to developing solutions that address urban heat challenges to enhance resilience and livability amid climate change, urbanization, and inequity. Her research has taken her to some of the hottest cities globally, including Singapore, Phoenix, and Hermosillo, where her work has informed climate-sensitive design and planning policies. As an Assistant Professor in the MS in Sustainable Environmental Systems program at Pratt Institute’s Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment, she is committed to engaging with local communities by mapping and documenting lived experiences of heat to co-develop solutions that alleviate heat burdens and support advocacy for infrastructure and policy change. She further promotes microclimate awareness by conducting participatory thermal walks in New York City, encouraging participants to reflect on the influence of design on urban climate and thermal perceptions for both human and non-human residents.
