Diego Molina

Diego Molina is a Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of Edinburgh and a Visiting Researcher at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Previously, he was a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for the GeoHumanities, Royal Holloway, University of London. His research examines the changing relationships between people and plants in urban environments, with a particular focus on the highly biodiverse regions of the Tropical Andes. On this topic, he has published several papers in journals including Environmental History, Economic Botany, and Global Environments. He recently published his third monograph, Planting a City in the Tropical Andes (Routledge, 2025). Before turning to the environmental humanities, Diego worked for several years as a botanist in Colombia, participating in scientific expeditions, species discovery, and the development of public policies for plant conservation
