Marziah Zad’s design pursuits are positioned at the intersection of lightweight, generative design and a celebration of existing narratives related to place and identity. Marziah is an architectural designer with global professional experience. Trained as a computational designer, she is interested in how advanced technologies and digital tools impact environments and the local to global sense of culture and identity. She co-founded Ashrafi & Zad Design in 2019 – a progressive, women-led architecture and urban design practice based in Tehran and Barcelona . She is faculty of architecture, with teaching experience at IAAC in Barcelona, and the University of Oregon and San Jose State University in the USA, among others. She is currently a PhD candidate at Swinburne University of Technology. Her research focuses on the interface between human and ecological agency in design.
